Abstract

The approach to the design of social and health care environments should no longer be understood solely as a function of the treatment of disease but must be able to link instances of humanisation through the design of health care places with the improvement of patient conditions and staff satisfaction. Several studies show how spaces can have positive effects both on patients, in terms of participation, favourable contexts for healing processes, positive impact on clinical outcomes of illness and safety conditions, and on staff, in terms of organisational well-being, increased performance and reduced conflicts. The following paper reports on a training exercise carried out during the specialisation course in pedagogy and didactics with students of the Masters in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, who tried their hand at designing innovative and inclusive environments in order to improve their professional skills.
