Abstract

The book "A Brain Full of Words" by Mamen Horno Chéliz is the result of over twenty years of research on the mental lexicon. In this book, the author analyzes and reflects on the use and storage of words in the brain. The book is divided into five chapters that address topics such as storage, acquisition, and loss of words, as well as their impact on the emotional life and mental health of human beings. The author uses metaphors, examples, and language games to explain the complexity of the brain and its relationship with language clearly. The book addresses different aspects related to language and words, including the importance of considering that sign language has the same characteristics as oral language, the loss of words in patients with anomia and long-term migrants, the impact of words on our health, and the influence of language on thought. In conclusion, the book highlights the importance of having "a brain full of words." [Extracted from the article]
