The first analysis - a tango with the mother? The course of treatment of a patient suffering from a moderate depressive episode, somatization disorder and narcissistic neurosis structure is described. The treatment, which takes place over 300 sessions in an individual analytical setting, reveals deep-rooted conflicts of self-worth and a strong dependence on the approval of others. Through the therapeutic work, the patient succeeds in recognizing and working through his inner conflicts, which helps him to better understand and shape himself and his relationships with others.
