Abstract
- A 67-year-old man experienced an unusual increase in his international normalized ratio (INR) while being treated with apixaban. The man had a medical history of heart failure, atrial flutter, and chronic kidney disease. He presented with symptoms such as shortness of breath, blood-tinged sputum, and generalized swelling. Lab results showed elevated INR levels, which were attributed to the use of apixaban. The patient was withdrawn from apixaban and received treatment with vitamin K, which eventually improved his INR levels. He remained stable during hospitalization and was discharged.
