Abstract

This study aims to develop an online, real-time fluid flow monitoring system for the oil and gas distribution network using the Internet of Things (IoT). The high percentage of leakage from the pipeline network causes significant production loss, environmental pollution, and potential threats to the surrounding communities. By regulating the hydraulic variables, this monitoring system can ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable use of the infrastructure, minimizing losses for the oil and gas company and providing safety guarantees for the community. The proposed IoT-based system can be applied to other industries involving pipeline flow, such as drinking water companies. The results indicate the effectiveness of the system in detecting and predicting pipeline leaks and minimizing production losses. The study's implication is that IoTbased monitoring systems can improve the sustainability, safety, and efficiency of fluid production flows, benefiting the industry, the environment, and the community.
