Abstract

This article explores the expression patterns of circadian clock genes in severe asthmatic airways and their association with WNT signaling, a pathway involved in airway remodeling in asthma. The study analyzed gene expression data from bronchial epithelial samples of patients with asthma and healthy subjects. The results showed that the expression of NR1D2, PER2, and PER3 was downregulated in severe asthmatic airways compared to healthy subjects. Additionally, pathway analysis revealed reduced activity of WNT signaling in severe asthma. These findings suggest that altered circadian clock activity and WNT signaling may contribute to the development of severe asthma. [Extracted from the article]
