Abstract

The comparison between natural, or human intelligence and siliconbased, or artificial intelligence is based on the assumption that intelligence is "information", or collecting and processing data. The problem, however, is that the notion of information reflects the idea of levels of scientific knowledge, as well as the fact that, for example, with quantum physics, information can no longer be confused with deterministic processes. We should also add that intuitive knowledge, which is part of human intelligence, has deep links with the sphere of emotions, which cannot be easily reduced to computational processes. The most relevant aspect - which also includes the above-mentioned aspects - is that the relationship between the physical substrate necessary for intelligence, whether the brain for the mind or the hardware for the software, is decisively the contact with the natural and social environment, which for natural intelligence is the body and for artificial intelligence is the robot. However, a robot is constructed by a body that is constituted by an evolutionary process of phylogenetic and ontogenetic development that establishes a limit that cannot easily be surpassed by a robot; think of the previously indicated emotivity, sociality, and the dynamics of the unconscious.
