Abstract

Since the inception of the automobile industry, the incremental improvements in the Internal Combustion Engines have been observed. The IC Engine run vehicles are bulky, have many components and create air pollution, which is a major issue throughout the world. Now a day's technological advancement in the field of electric vehicle provides solution to every problem in a much more efficient way. This paper describes the design and optimization of the electric motorcycle chassis. In this work, optimization of chassis frame has been carried out to reduce the battery changing time. Air flow over chassis is used for cooling the batteries by forced convection. Proposed chassis design is validated using the results of structural and computational fluid dynamic analysis study. The optimized proposed model has achieved 40% of weight reduction of the electric motorcycle chassis. The flow rate of air through batteries was increased for the optimized chassis and battery module. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
