Abstract

Shoulder arthroscopy has evolved significantly since its inception, with advancements in technology, surgical techniques, and patient demand driving its progress. Surgeons and scientific societies have played a crucial role in promoting and disseminating knowledge on arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Despite barriers such as surgeon apprehension, medical hyperspecialization, and the need for evidence-based medicine, substantial achievements have been made, including stable fixation systems, treatment of fractures, and performing procedures outside the glenohumeral joint. To continue innovating, the field must increase scientific knowledge, adopt digital technologies, explore navigation techniques and robotic surgery, and harness the potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Collaboration with industry, healthcare systems, and patients is essential for efficient and sustainable implementation of these advancements. [Extracted from the article]
