Abstract

The technologies of Industry 4.0 are revolutionizing global business production systems, emerging as essential components for enhancing corporate competitiveness. This study focused on the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in 121 Colombian SMEs across manufacturing, services, and agricultural sectors. A Likert-scale survey, validated by experts, was utilized to characterize the companies, anonymously completed by managers and key stakeholders. The survey assessed the level of Industry 4.0 technology adoption and the barriers encountered in their integration. The findings revealed low adoption rates, with common challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and high investment costs. Furthermore, each sector faces specific hurdles, including cybersecurity and resistance to change. Overcoming these obstacles and tailoring strategies to each sector are crucial for capitalizing on the opportunities presented by Industry 4.0. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
