Abstract

This article examines the different interpretations of Deuteronomy 22:10, which prohibits plowing with an ox and an ass together. One interpretation suggests that the verse reflects compassion for animals, while another connects it to the ban on mixed breeding. However, the article also suggests that the verse can be understood as a witty or playful warning against inappropriate sexual liaisons. The article explores the symbolic significance of the animals mentioned in the verse and provides examples from various ancient texts to support these interpretations. It also includes references to other scholarly works for further research. [Extracted from the article]
