Abstract

The article focuses on San Antonio's leadership in water conservation driven by the protection of a blind salamander unique to the Edwards Aquifer, leading to legislative actions in Texas to establish the Edwards Aquifer Authority and regulate groundwater pumping to sustain both the species and human water needs amidst legal and environmental challenges spanning decades.
