Abstract

Several government officials in Guinea-Bissau have resigned following a loss of confidence in President Umaro Sissoco Embalo by their party, the Assembly of the People United-Democratic Party of Guinea-Bissau (APU-PDGB). The APU-PDGB has accused Embalo of attempting to establish a dictatorship and has demanded that he call a presidential election before the end of 2024. Additionally, former prime minister Martinho Ndafa Kabi has filed a criminal complaint against Embalo, accusing him of attacking the constitution and abusing power. Kabi has threatened to take the matter to regional and international courts if the country's institutions fail to act. [Extracted from the article]
