Reports that sanctions imposed on guilty doctors by the British General Medical Council are to follow a framework drawn up by the Commission for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE). Creation of the Indicative Sanctions Guidance of CHRE after it identified inconsistencies in approaches taken by the nine health care regulators; Intention for the template to be adapted by each regulator to create an authoritative statement of its approach to sanctions; Assurance of the sanctions being fair and proportionate.
