Abstract

Butterfly pea flowers are plants that contain flavonoid compounds which produce a purple color, so they can be used as body butter. This research aims to determine the butterfly pea flower extract as body butter, which formula is the best in terms of the physical properties of the preparation and the antioxidant activity of the butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) using the DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl 1-1 Picrylhydrazyl) method. Samples were obtained from the Tegal area and used non-random/probability techniques with the simple random sampling method. The extraction method used is the reflux method with 70% ethanol solvent. This research used concentrations of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea L.) with concentrations of 1%, 3%, 6%. Then the physical properties of the body butter preparation were carried out including organoleptic tests carried out with the naked eye, pH testing using a pH stick, adhesion test, spreadability test, and antioxidant activity test of butterfly pea flower using DPPH which was classified as very, namely the value of butterfly pea flower in formulation 1:82,84 µg/ml, formulation 2: 77,98 µg/ml, formulation 3:77,39 µg/ml.
