Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the most frequent causes of work-related stress among teachers of the Julio Moreno Espinosa and Bethel Educational Units in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. We opted for a quantitative approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design and descriptive scope. The entire population, composed of 66 teachers from both institutions, participated in the study. The methodology included the use of surveys and a questionnaire validated by the Spanish Institute for Safety and Hygiene at Work (INSHT) with 56 items. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and SPSS, revealing that teachers could present acute episodic and chronic stress, mainly originated by the stressors: activities related to students, adaptation to changes, valuation of external people and needs for improvement within the context of their practice. These results underscore the importance of promptly addressing certain challenges perceived by teachers, providing a starting point to improve their professional performance and promote the overall development and well-being of the educational community.
