Abstract

This paper presents a novel design of a compact multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna backed by a half mode (HM) substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The presented design comprises two HM-SIW semicircular cavities with open edges acting as the antenna's radiating elements. This antenna is designed to function in the ISM band for 5G services with tunable center frequency. The impedance matching at the resonance frequency is less than -10 dB. The gain and the front to back ratio (FTBR) in the working band are 4.7 dB and 9 dB, respectively. The efficiency of the antenna is 95%. The diversity gain and envelop correlation coefficient (ECC) are 10 dB and 0.0037, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
