Abstract
- The article will analyze the use of technology in oral rehabilitation, highlighting its advantages and disadvantages. Scientific articles, books and compendiums specialized in the dental field were reviewed to address the topic. Digital technologies, such as CAD/CAM systems, intraoral scanners and 3D printers, have brought significant advances to dentistry. The use of dental implants in combination with these technologies provides more precise planning associated with rehabilitation, such as zirconia pillars made using the CAD/CAM system have provided superior aesthetic and functional results, in addition to agility in their manufacture. Furthermore, intraoral scanning and digital impressions have made it easier to obtain working models with greater precision of the impressions, increasing the efficiency of the process and the precision in adapting crowns made with the CAD/CAM system, being crucial for the success of the treatments and with greater speed in execution. However, there are disadvantages to consider, such as the high initial cost, dependence on specialized professionals and the need for periodic updates. It is essential to choose the appropriate material according to the case to be rehabilitated, considering factors such as aesthetics and biocompatibility. Furthermore, adequate planning and training of the dentist and prosthetic technician is extremely important for the best resolution of cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
