Abstract
- The practical training of nursing students is conducted by mentors and teachers. Mentoring during training is an effective training method to achieve a high level of professional training. 110 students from the first to the fourth year of the "nursing" specialty course of the Faculty of Medicine, Thrace University - Stara Zagora participated in the anonymous survey conducted in the period 2022-23. The limits of the study are determined by the personality of the respondents and their subjective understandings and perceptions of the mentor's qualities. Findings and conclusion: The "ideal" clinical practice teacher should be demanding and ethical (100%), communicative (97.2%), responsible (96.3%) and disciplined (93.6); to have excellent theoretical and practical training (85.5%), individual approach to patients and students (80.1%), and teamwork skills (72%). According to 54.9% of students, mentors positively influence them, while 40.6% are partly influenced to increase interest in studying the specialty.
