Validation of localised coastal wind forecasts for artisan fishers of southwestern India.

This article discusses the challenges faced by artisan fishers in southwestern India due to uncertain and extreme weather conditions, particularly during the monsoon season. Regular weather forecasts often do not provide enough information for fishers to make safe decisions about going out to fish. The article explores the use of a localized marine weather information service, using the Weather Research Forecasting (WRF) model, to improve the safety of artisan fishing.
