Abstract
- This article discusses the endocrine disrupting activity of mixtures composed of pharmaceuticals and nanoplastics. Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are defined as chemicals that can interfere with hormone action and have been linked to various health issues. The study focuses on the effects of combining pharmaceuticals (paracetamol, ibuprofen, and fluoxetine) with polystyrene nanoparticles (PNPs). The results show that the mixture of pharmaceuticals with PNPs had a higher affinity towards estrogen receptors compared to the individual components. The study emphasizes the importance of considering complex mixtures of pollutants when assessing their health hazards. [Extracted from the article]
