Abstract

The article provides an overview of lithography, a key technology in circuit printing, describing how it underpins advances in modern computing by enabling the creation of increasingly sophisticated integrated circuits. Recent developments include Canon's introduction of nanoimprint lithography, which promises lower costs and improved capabilities, although it faces challenges in scaling and error reduction. The industry's ongoing efforts, including the Netherlands-based ASML's advancements in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography and research into new materials and techniques, aim to sustain progress in semiconductor innovation despite the slowing pace of Moore's Law which asserts that the cost per transistor halves every two years.
