Abstract

The article discusses a recent study published in Neuron that explores the behavior of anxious mice seeking out anorexia-like behaviors to relieve stress. The study suggests that there may be a biological basis for the tendency to restrict food to the point of starvation, which can create a harmful cycle. Anorexia nervosa is a complex and deadly psychiatric disease, and studying its onset and progression in animal models has been challenging. This mouse model provides insight into the behavior and potential underlying mechanisms of anorexia. [Extracted from the article]
