Abstract

This document is a reply to a letter by Wang et al. regarding the presence of HSV-1 LAT in non-neuronal ganglionic cells of mice and humans. The authors of the reply argue that the original claim made by Wang et al. is unsupported and that their study does not provide sufficient evidence for the conclusion that HSV-1 can establish latency in non-neuronal cells. They also address differences in the methods used for analysis and emphasize the importance of studying both manuscripts and forming one's own conclusions. [Extracted from the article]
