Abstract

The article offers information on randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and their impact on defining the efficacy of new cancer treatments, while also examining the debated benefits of trial participation for individual patients. Topics include the existence of a participation effect in cancer RCTs, as explored by Iskander et al, which initially suggested lower mortality risk among trial participants but found this effect diminished when adjusting for confounders and publication bias.
