Abstract

This article discusses the findings of a survey study on cannabis use in patients with schizophrenia before and after legalization. The study found a high drop-out rate among cannabis users during the long-term follow-up phase. The authors suggest that reduced motivational salience in schizophrenia, amplified by cannabis use, may explain the drop in response rate. Stigma towards cannabis users may also play a role. The study highlights the challenges faced by cannabis-using schizophrenia patients and emphasizes the need for increased awareness and education to reduce stigma and prevent long-term behavioral changes.
