Abstract

• A novel two-step solid-state synthesis was used to produce pure CeAlO 3 powder. • SPS was used to achieve a fully dense cerium aluminate polycrystalline ceramic. • First-time thermal and electrical properties of the sintered material were measured. Cerium aluminate was synthesized and sintered using a solid-state method followed by Spark Plasma Sintering. This combination leads to fully dense materials. This study presents a novel two-step solid-state synthesis method for CeAlO 3 via the control of intermediary reactants, highlighting its potential for obtaining high-purity CeAlO 3- based ceramics. The sintered material's thermal and electrical properties were characterized. The results provide insights into the synthesis and properties of CeAlO 3 like an electrical conductivity of 2.9 10-8 S.cm−1 and a thermal conductivity of 4.5 W.m−1. K−1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
