Abstract

Smart homes represent an emerging area of the Internet of Things (IoT), providing innovative solutions for improving comfort, safety and energy efficiency in residential environments. This article conducts a relatively comprehensive exploration of the design and implementation of environment sensing and automatic control systems in smart homes. The study begins with an in-depth look at environmental sensing technology, elucidating the critical role that sensors play in collecting data on various environmental parameters. Specifically, it details temperature and humidity sensing, light and brightness sensing, and motion and presence sensing, clarifying their deployment and integration in smart home systems. This paper takes a closer look at automation control system design, elucidating the architecture, control algorithms, decision-making systems, user interfaces and remote safety protocols. Additionally, it highlights the need to address security and privacy concerns to ensure the integrity of these systems. The discussion extended into technical challenges and solutions, revealing the complexities of data processing and analysis, as well as those surrounding communications and interconnections. Solutions include data filtering, edge computing and standardized communication protocols. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
