Abstract

This text is an experience report of a pedagogical proposal of popular rural education for child education, developed based on a thematic axis called "What can I learn?". The pedagogical project took place in an Integrated Child Education Center (CIEI), located in a rural area of the county of Santa Rita-PB, in the community of Bebelândia. The research was used as a method, based on the conception of Paulo Freire. The topic discussed was the mangrove, a biome chosen because of its connection with the comunity's reality and because it is common to the children. Different educational strategies were developed to work the theme, including a field visit to the mangrove and the construction of a collective panel. It is concluded, at the end of the study, that the pedagogical practice developed constitutes popular rural education, except for child education, because it fulfills it's conceptual purpose of offering a differentiated education for rural subjects, respecting their way of life and culture.
