Abstract

A 67-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus developed chronic bacteriuria with Escherichia coli while being treated with prednisolone for lupus cystitis. She had been experiencing fever and chills for two days and was diagnosed with lupus cystitis based on symptoms and bladder wall thickening. Antibacterial drugs did not improve her condition, but after starting prednisolone, her symptoms improved. However, she later developed chronic bacteriuria with Escherichia coli, which led to acute pyelonephritis and suspicion of bladder perforation and atrophy. Emergency surgery was performed to address these complications. [Extracted from the article]
