Abstract
- The reaction mechanism and kinetics of the torrefaction process were reviewed, the effects of torrefaction temperature, residence time, heating rate, and torrefaction atmosphere on the physical and chemical properties of products were analyzed, and the effects of torrefaction on the subsequent pyrolysis, combustion, and gasification were discussed・ Torrefaction is usually performed under an inert atmosphere, in which the commonly used gas is nitrogen・ In addition, other atmospheres such as 02, C02, flue gas and NH3 have also been applied・ Different atmospheres can change the distribution of torrefaction products・ The study of torrefaction kinetics is helpful to reveal the thermal degradation behavior of torrefaction biomass and to provide reference for the design of torrefaction reactors・ Combining torrefaction with pyrolysis, gasification, combustion, and other processes can obtain high-quality bio-oil and hydrogen-rich synthesis gas and improve the utilization efficiency of biomass energy・ Finally, the development of lignocellulosic biomass torrefaction pretreatment technology was prospected regarding atmosphere, integrated optimization and production.
