Abstract

The research progress of biochar-based microbial agents on plant uptake of heavy metals and the effects of soil microorganisms are reviewed, and the influencing mechanisms are summarized, including promoting plant growth, reducing plant uptake of heavy metals, improving soil physicochemical properties, changing heavy metal morphology, reducing soil heavy metal availability, and changing the community composition of microorganisms in soil. Finally, the existing problems and future development directions in this field are explored, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the effects of biochar-based microbial agents on plant absorption of heavy metals and soil microorganisms.
