DOS MEDOS E MISTÉRIOS AOS DIVERTIMENTOS: A TRANSFORMAÇÃO DO OLHAR IMIGRANTE ALEMÃO SOBRE A NATUREZA EM BLUMENAU (1853- 1911).

This article analyzed how the transformation of the German immigrant's view of nature had repercussions on the use of outdoor spaces as places of amusement in Blumenau in Santa Catarina. The selected sources were reports written by the colony's director, letters, images, and newspapers. The analyses indicate that the colony's development into a city allowed new interpretations and understandings about the relationship between individuals, nature, and education. As a conclusion, it is pointed out that the small town gradually needed to manage more and more the dangers and mysteries of nature, which resulted in the formation of new ways of seeing, looking at and using nature.
