Abstract

The article titled "Frequency of hemotropic parasites in bats (Chiroptera) in the department of Córdoba, Colombia" reports on the presence of blood parasites in bats in the Córdoba region, Colombia. Captures of 265 bats were made in different areas of Córdoba, and it was found that 7.54% of the samples were positive for hemotropic parasites. The most infected genera were Artibeus jamaicensis, A. literatus, A. phaeotis, Uroderma bilobatum, Glossophaga soricina, Phyllostomus discolor, and Sturnira parvidens. Species of Filaria sp, Anaplasma sp, and Plasmodium sp were detected. This finding is important for understanding the diversity of hemotropic parasites in bats and their potential as vectors of zoonotic diseases. [Extracted from the article]
