Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Senate has given final approval to two spending bills and a comprehensive energy package. However, the chamber continued to debate a gun liability bill and is expected to consider the transportation conference report. By a 74-26 margin, the Senate had passed the energy conference report. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chairman Pete V. Domenici said the energy bill would create jobs, expand use of renewable energy and ethanol, lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil and increase natural gas supplies while stabilizing prices.
