Abstract
- Photonic crystals (PC) are atomic materials that have a periodic structure on the optical wavelength scale and can inhibit light transmission at specific wavelengths. In this paper, we use the literature study method with a review of several journals to see the Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) method for calculating the two-dimensional photonic bandgap. The calculation of the band gap of the photonic crystal model in this paper is carried out for a cylindrical 2D periodic lattice and the lattice structure model used is a triangular lattice and a square lattice. From the calculation results, it is concluded that the calculation results for R<0,5a do not show a bandgap. While the calculation results of R<0,5a or R>0,5a on the TM polarization show a band gap.
