Abstract

To achieve the optimum performance thermally and hydraulically of the heat sink in the current research, five serpentine mini channel heat sink models are investigated numerically and experimentally validated for the base model. In the current study two effects are investigated namely the number of outlets and the channel contraction. Two outlet model and three different configurations which are 3.5 mm, 3mm and 2.5mm. Ansys fluent 2020 R2 is used to simulate the numerical modeling. The numerical result of the base line model was validated with experimental results. The results show the number of outlets has significant effect on the overall performance evaluation criteria which reaches 1.53 as compared to the base model. Furthermore, using the convergent channel effect for the two outlets model shows an extraordinary enhancement in the Nusselt number. However, the convergent distance of 2.5 mm increased the Nusselt number by 14.48 % and decreased the pressure drop by 60%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
