Abstract

A study published in Acta Paediatrica explores the benefits of parents' live singing as a preventive and protective intervention for infants during painful procedures. The study found that maternal live singing reduced infants' pain behavior indexes and increased mother-infant social gaze, promoting attachment. Live singing also calmed mothers and reduced their anxiety during the procedure. The research suggests that integrating live parental singing into healthcare practices can support interpersonal closeness and modulate parents' and infants' arousal levels. However, the study has limitations, such as the short intervention time and the lack of instructions on vocal characteristics and singing style. Further research is needed to explore the analgesic effect of live parental singing. [Extracted from the article]
