Abstract

A 51-year-old man developed eosinophilic pneumonia after taking a dietary supplement called hericium-erinaceus. He experienced symptoms such as dyspnea, cough, headache, chills, lack of appetite, and lightheadedness, and was admitted to the ICU due to respiratory failure. Tests revealed elevated eosinophil count and chest CT showed lung disease. The man had recently started taking hericium-erinaceus, and the pneumonia was attributed to this supplement. He was treated with corticosteroids and eventually discharged with a prednisone taper. [Extracted from the article]
