Abstract

The article discusses the serious security challenges faced by Somalia, particularly due to attacks carried out by the al-Shabaab militant group. The UN independent human rights expert on Somalia has called on authorities to take concrete action to address these challenges and prosecute state officials involved in human rights violations. The article also highlights concerns over restrictions on civic space and the harassment of journalists and media workers. Additionally, the article mentions military operations carried out by the Somali army and international partner forces against al-Shabaab militants, as well as clan violence and inter-clan clashes in different regions of Somalia.
