Abstract
- This letter, published in the Archives of Dermatological Research, discusses a pilot study that aimed to explore the role of low-density neutrophils (LDNs) in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic skin disease. The study found that HS patients had a significantly higher frequency of circulating LDNs compared to healthy controls. Additionally, LDNs in HS patients showed an activated phenotype and increased antigen presenting capacity. The study also found that LDNs with an activated phenotype were more prevalent in smoking and obese patients. The authors suggest that LDNs may play a role in the pathophysiology of HS and call for further research to explore their influence on clinical parameters. [Extracted from the article]
