Abstract
- The article discusses the complexities of using language to describe transgender individuals in different cultural contexts. It highlights examples of debates surrounding the use of pronouns and terminology, such as the case of a Japanese trans man being referred to as "she" in an article. The author argues that while trans-affirming language is important, it should be understood within its sociocultural context and not imposed universally. The article calls for a recognition of diverse perspectives and a move away from Eurocentric thinking in discussions of trans issues. [Extracted from the article]
