Abstract

Linkage on the patient's bed in the hospital when the dimensions are too large will cause a waste of materials. On the other hand, the strength of the linkage must guarantee its strength to withstand the load. This study aims to determine the stress value on the linkage of the patient's bed before and after design optimization is carried out so that the resulting product's level of feasibility and safety is obtained. The method used is redesigning the linkage, simulating the load using SolidWorks, and testing the load on the prototype. Linkage of patient beds before optimization using 8 mm plate material. Because it is considered too wasteful, savings are made using thinner material with a 3 mm plate material. The maximum value of Von Mises stress on the linkage before optimization (8 mm plate) is 2.16 x 107 N / m2 and after design optimization (3 mm plate), which is 3.24 x 107 N / m2. The maximum value of Von Mises stress has increased but is still below the clearance stress, where the yield strength value of the material is 2.50 x 108 N/m2. The load test results on the prototype do not cause damage or deformation to the linkage. The linkage of the design optimization results was declared safe because the Von Mises stress value was still below the clearance stress, and the linkage was not damaged when the prototype load test was carried out.
