Bloomsbury Buys Rowman & Littlefield Academic.

Bloomsbury Publishing has acquired the academic publishing business of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group for $83 million, significantly expanding its academic operation in North America. The deal will nearly double Bloomsbury's total number of academic titles to approximately 97,000 and is expected to increase its annual U.S. revenue to around $300 million. The acquisition does not include Rowman & Littlefield's trade arm, Globe Pequot, except for the Applause and Backbeat imprints. Pushkin Press, a London publisher specializing in translated literature, has acquired Steerforth Press and its sister company, Hanover Publisher Services.
