Abstract

A 66-year-old man experienced polycythemia (an increase in red blood cells) and a heart attack while undergoing testosterone treatment. The man had pre-existing conditions including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. He presented with chest pain and dizziness, and further tests revealed a blockage in one of his arteries. He underwent a procedure to open the artery and was diagnosed with polycythemia and a heart attack. The man was treated with hydroxycarbamide and received plasmapheresis for his polycythemia.
