Abstract

This article discusses two cases of patients with Borna disease virus 1 (BoDV-1) encephalitis who exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with favipiravir, ribavirin, or amantadine. One patient also developed haemolytic anaemia during treatment with ribavirin. The first patient, an 11-year-old girl, showed refractory increased intracranial pressure and died due to elevated intracranial pressure. The second patient, a 6-year-old boy, developed haemolytic anaemia but eventually showed improvement before dying on day 67. The article highlights the lack of efficacy of these antiviral treatments for BoDV-1 encephalitis. [Extracted from the article]
