Abstract
- This article discusses a case study of a 72-year-old man who presented with memory and cognitive impairments, as well as motor symptoms. The patient underwent various imaging scans, including MRI, [123I]meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) scan, [18F]-FDG-PET, and [18F]-florbetaben-PET, to differentiate between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). The results indicated posterior-cortical atrophy (PCA) with comorbid AD, and later confirmed DLB with comorbid AD. The case highlights the importance of biomarkers in diagnosing dementia and raises questions about the sequence of biomarker use. The article also mentions the potential use of co-pathology indicators in clinical trials. [Extracted from the article]
