Abstract
- This article explores the issue of maritime environmental damage and the establishment of liability for such damage. It emphasizes the importance of addressing environmental degradation in maritime regions and assigning responsibility for harmful actions. The article discusses different forms of compensation for environmental damage, including financial compensation for material and physical damage, as well as compensation for non-material damage and damage to livelihoods. It also explores the legal attribution of criminal liability for environmental crimes, both for legal entities and natural persons. The text highlights the importance of accountability and compensation for environmental harm and the need for international cooperation to achieve international environmental security. The Algerian legislation is mentioned as an example of a legal framework that acknowledges the importance of protecting the maritime environment and holding those responsible for causing harm accountable.
