Abstract

A 14-year-old girl experienced drug poisoning after intentionally overdosing on verapamil. She exhibited symptoms such as atrioventricular block, hypotension, bradycardia, and hyperglycemia. Despite treatment with calcium gluconate, epinephrine, and norepinephrine, her condition did not improve. She was eventually transferred to a pediatric intensive care unit where she required high doses of vasoactive medications and was placed on venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO). After undergoing therapeutic plasma exchange, her vasoactive needs were gradually reduced, and she was eventually transferred to an inpatient psychiatric facility after five days.
