Abstract

The article discusses the development of a new mobile active lung support system called the "Hannover Artificial Lung - HArt-Lung" concept. The system aims to provide mechanical support for patients with terminal lung failure, particularly those with right heart impairment. The concept was tested in an in-vitro mock circulation and then successfully implemented in a patient as a clinical proof of concept. The authors conclude that the HArt-Lung concept is a feasible and mobile option for the treatment of lung failure. [Extracted from the article]
